About Ruth

Ruth Evelyn lives a life of adventure. Along with her dance partner Mike, she travels around the world sipping carrot juice, whiskey and wine. They often travel in a car named Appa. Sometimes they fly. They are nomads. Someday they may pick a home base, but right now they enjoy life on the road.

Dance takes up most of Ruth’s time, and a lot of her mental space. Her current obsessions include Blues, Argentine Tango, Lindy, Balboa, Modern Dance and AltDancing (a term of Ruth and Mike’s coinage to describe free-form partner dancing or what some people call Fusion). Ruth is also pursuing a Franklin Method certification. She spends a lot of time musing about technique, pedagogy  performance, social systems, gender, body mechanics, and history.

Ruth also loves food- cooking it (Currently in other people’s kitchens), creating recipes, photographing and styling plates, trying restaurants and cocktails bars and seeking the best value bottle of wine.

Photography and writing are Ruth’s other passions. This site is an outlet for those, as she collects ideas for a couple of book projects and documents her travels. Hobbies that are sometimes neglected, sometimes pursued include hiking, rock climbing, swimming, knitting, and bopping. She also has a weakness for fashion, especially a lovely dress.

Ruth says “yes” regularly, resulting in some experiences that are fun and some experiences that make good stories later. She pursues happiness with vigor, even when it runs fast.
